Racecar Marine uses the Open 7.50 Cool Runnings as a marketing platform in racing events around the Solent area.
The Boat
The boat is a high performance 7.5 metre carbon skiff with a rotating wing mast and articulated bow sprit. When new under a previous ownership Cool Runnings won high profile events outright such as the Cento Miglia in Lake Garda. Nowadays we campaign the boat in the Solent and have had success at Cowes, RTIR as well as having some good results on breezy days in the winter series.
The boat is a pure race machine and has limited cruising potential (like none!) - so is only used for training or racing. In competitive terms the boat is no IRC "bandit"!!! She rates at 1.098(!) but is rewarding to sail in windy conditions and she is capable of 25 knots+. Cool Runnings has been very successful at generating both profile and business for Racecar and Racecarmarine.
