Top Ten Reasons To Attend The BVI Spring Regatta

Top Ten Reasons To Attend The BVI Spring Regatta

23 March - 29 March, 2026

1  With over 60 islands and cays, and sheltered sailing waters, the British Virgin Islands are rightly known as the Sailing Capital Of the World, and a bucket list sailing destination.

2  The BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival is a two-part regatta:

Sailing Festival

Racing kicks off on Tuesday with the ever-popular Round Tortola Race, a stunning 37 nautical mile race around the island of Tortola and a perfect shakedown race.

The Scrub Island Invitational follows the next day with a 12nm upwind race. The race ends with an afternoon BBQ, music and pool party.

Spring Regatta

Three days of spectacular racing and some of the best that the Caribbean has to offer.

3  Three days of the Caribbean’s best racing is managed by a world-class race management team. The courses use a combination of islands and buoys depending on the conditions, providing a good variety and perfect courses for all classes.

4  Two course areas, and two race management teams ensure that the right classes get the right courses and racing, for the day.

5  The focal point of Regatta social activities for the week is the Regatta Village at Nanny Cay Resort & Marina which features the Big Top bar, satellite bars, food village, nightly DJs and live bands, tastings and demos, Moko Jumbies, art shows, and more.

6  The central, and static, location of the regatta and village makes logistics a breeze. Get dock space at Nanny Cay (it also has a hotel) and walk to the village. Marinas in Road Town, Manuel Reef, and West End are short taxi rides away.

7  There is large selection of accommodation options for every budget and group size from bed and breakfasts, hotels, to private villas and apartments. Plus, plenty of car rental, supermarkets, delis, and catering services.

8  Whether sailors participate in all five races of the BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival, part or all of the Festival, or the three-day Regatta, there is something for everyone, on the water and shore-side.

9  The regatta attracts a diverse fleet from performance racing boats to a competitive bareboat fleet, with plenty of charter options in both categories, whole boat or ‘head’ charters.

10 Finally attending the BVI Spring Regatta means you can cross it off your bucket list - but you may come back and cross it off again…
